Cheek biting, Gum pain

Asked for Male, 20 Years

Hello Doctor. Since almost a month my bottom wisdom teeth(on both sides) have emerged. But they're causing a lot of pain on the gums where they are situated. What needs to be done? Also my cheek have come very close to my Molars and i frequently bite them accidently while eating food. Please let me know what needs to be done medically.

Hello.... According to your age it is likely to have pain due to wisdom tooth eruption... but we have to wait from 18 to 23 years of age... so that we shud give our wisdom tooth enough time to erupt in oral cavity...  Till then i must say do warm saline rinses for 5 to 6 times a day.... daily.... With 3 days course of antibiotics: - Tab.Moxy Clav 625 mg twice a day for 3days... Tab. Diclo para seratio 500mg Twice a day for 3 days.... Tab. LACTOBACILLUS Twice a day for 3 days.....

If its problematic persistently extract the wisdom tooth Else temporary treatment like warm salt water gargles and application of Mucopain should suffice temporarily.

Visit Your dentist and get X rays done. If the wisdom teeth are not erupting in a proper position or are angulated which may be causing cheek bite then it's better to get them removed as they don't help in chewing . Pain in gum due to eruption often occurs ., also it may occur due to food particles stuck in the gums. So maintain proper oral hygiene.

wisdom tooth is positioned in a slightly different way hence the cheek bite. what needs to be done is pl visit a dentist,  get your xrays done & they will guide you according to what the clinical & xray situation is. most probably you might have to remove your wisdom teeth. meanwhile to reduce your pain take a pain killer like tab.  combiflam not more than thrice a day & do some salt Luke warm water gargles  3-4 times a day.  this will mildly reduce your pain.

See for your case first thing to be done is to visit a dentist because we need to say how your wisdom tooth is erupting, whether it's straight or angulated is some way because that might also have an impact on your treatment plan. Things what you can do as home remedies could be a mouthwash or warm salt water gargle and gently brush that area and keep it clean

This is common in this age as it's the period of eruption of third molar. The swelling in gums is because of tooth being not erupted fully there is a pocket in between your tooth and gums where food material deposits and creates swelling. You need to keep proper hygiene with proper brushing and mouthwash. Get clohex mouthwash and use undiluted twice a day. The mouthwash should flush off the pocket area. You need to visit a dentist who will guide you ahead

Kindly visit the dentist and get a full mouth x-ray done to find out the angle in which wisdom tooth is erupting  ,whether there is enough jaw space for it to erupt or not...if it is coming out straight then you will have slight pain and discomfort during eruption time..but if condition s not favourable like a diff angle of its eruption and inadequate space then you can get it removed..take care..

Wisdom teeth cause lots of problems 1. They cause recurrent swelling of gums when they erupt, and frequently the gums hurt badly while eating food. 2. They cause food impaction and can cause decay in the wisdom tooth as well as the adjacent molar tooth. If this is the case one may loose 2 teeth instead of one if the wisdom teeth are not removed.

Next Steps

Home remedy - warm salt water Gargle may help in situations where there is pain and swelling.
